Sculptures Musicales
1999 Percussive Arts Society International Convention-A John Cage Retrospective.
Look! I have hair! I was asked to contribute a piece of Cage’s for the 1999 PASIC retrospective concert on Cage’s complete works. Professor Alison Shaw and I chose Sculptures Musicales. We created around a dozen interpretations of this piece that was part of the retrospective and subsequent music circus performed at the convention. We used mostly found objects and my focus included bowling balls, bowling pins, electronics, chairs, tape loops, corrugated pipe, tennis rackets, etc. Shaw focused on organic material, an old washing machine, toilet parts, etc.
